A celebration of community singing and singing community, led by Matt Watroba and Zoe Mulford, with support from Open Voice Community Choir.

Host Marilyn Rea Beyer presents a preview of the Fox Valley Folk Music and Storytelling Festival, featuring Chris Vallillo, Heather Forest, Zoe Mulford, Joy Clark & Claudia Schmidt playing to a live studio audience. Tune in to WFMT, listen live online, or listen on demand after the broadcast.

Part of an iconic residential summer folk arts program in the mountains of North Carolina, Traditional Song Week focuses on singing - both what we sing and how we sing it. I'm excited to be joining a faculty that includes Matt Watroba, Susan Pepper, Kathy Bullock, Chris Koldewey, Josh Goforth, Sara Grey, Joe Newberry, Sally Rogers, Howie Bursen, Claudia Schmidt, Cara Valenti and Pat Wictor. I'll be teaching classes for people who want to sing songs, lead songs, and/or write songs - "Community Singing Right Now" and "The Art of the Sing-Along Chorus".

If you enjoy Circlesinging or Collaborative Vocal Improvisation, this workshop is for you. It's also for you if you haven't tried them (or never heard of them) but you want to sing with people in a way that is playful, cooperative, challenging, and fun. We will start from simple elements in a supportive environment, exploring ways to be spontaneous without feeling put on the spot. The music we make is the sound of body, heart, voice, spirit, and community coming together.

Bring a water bottle and a packed lunch.

"Crow" is a charming and enigmatic performance piece by Avanti Display, one of the UK’s longest established outdoor performance companies. Zoe Mulford opens with a solo set, which might have some birds in it.
